Recruiting isn't very easy for a new guild. Everyone wants a good ranked guild. When we almost beat a korean guild with Reno and Evil guests (tag was [one]) last week, I had around a lot of people messaging me to join. Just last week we were making a smurf, and couldn' get anyone to join, until we had to say that the smurf was allied with sumthing stoopid. And Billiard is right, the Looking For Guild thread is decent. A long time ago,I joined at least two very good guilds I enjoyed that were recruiting.

I, like the reast of you have had trouble with this. My method is to just go questing with people. I interview them without them knowing and deside if I want them or not. It is alot easier to get someone if you are friends.

One thing I think most guilds don't realize is that you need to connect to your guild members. I got lazy with all of the before posts, so I don't know if this was adressed very well.
I have been in many guilds (I'm now guild-less), and the reason why I never stayed was because 1) Annoying people being stupid on the guild chat 2) Leader/Officers/Members that don't offer any help or advice what-so-ever on ANYTHING and 3) Where's the GvG? In all of the guilds I have been in, I have yet to do any GvG, ever. Those are the 3 biggest reasons I never stay with guilds. If someone could make a nice, helpful, fairly active guild, I would join it in a heartbeat. Sadly, I have yet to find a guild that even comes close to that. And, yes, when I was in a guild, I contributed my butt off. I've run many, many ungrateful ppl, and helped complete many, many missions with ppl who don't even say ty. I've even chipped in to buying "fellow" guild members buy armor and whatnot. And in return I get the cold shoulder when I ask "fellow" guild members to help me on a mission (I rarely ask). |

My main problem with guilds is, well, most of them don't do anything. And those that do: faction farming is not my cup of tea, thanks...

Recruitment is increadibly hard for a small guild these days, our guild (Born To Raise Hell) has 9 members and we have tried many times to recruit members all have ended with them being kicked or inactive for months.
We are a very "relaxed" group that does PvE (quests and Missions) , Underworld, Fissure of Woe, farming (anything and everything), and are looking to push into PvP and more GvG activities, which is hard having so few numbers. I have read all these posts on here on how to recruit, but it isn't making things easier. Christ we are even fully set up, Teamspeak server, Web site and Forums, but only have a hard core of 5 regular users (Leader and 4 officers)...I never in all my born days thought it would be so difficult to find people of the same mindset to join in. I just don't know what we are doing wrong...there is no facet of the game we are not interested in doing and yet I don't seem to come across anyone who is interested in any of it. Is GW descending into a one man game ? Judging by the quality of some of the players I have encountered in Factions recently I think it is......maybe GW:P is where people are learning their professions in more depth and are more open to teamwork. Rant over :/ |

hi
I am the co founder of a very good guild full of nice guys and lots of gals called " The Phoenix Knights " our leader is Tay Zendreth hes a very nice guy and no crap or demanding pain in the butt tasks from him at all.
We recruit by going to ascalon, yaks etc and helping noobs on the missions, this gives us a chance to play with them and see just what kind of people they are . if theyre friendly courteous and know how to follow our ingame instructions then well offer them a place in guild, if theyre not then we just pass them by. We have 28 in our guild at the moment and a 4 guild alliance, there are no fools in our guild and every night theres plenty of guildees on helping each other and noobs. Noone has to recruit, noone has to donate any gold as we have plenty and a full facilities in the guild hall, were growing slowly but strongly mainly because of the way we sound players out when missioning with them. Shouting in Ascalon is not in my opinion going to get you nice loyal players. |

I running solo and have most of time in the game.I try joining PVE guild but turns out their version of PVE is GVG.Then some yutts says Get your a@@ up to GH.Hit G ..leave guild at that point. Also if you want to stay in guild you have to FF.Goodbye. Key is before I join guild I always let them know I am strictly pve and dont FF for them.Is there a problem with that?I get no there isnt.Right..) Ok bottom line after this rant is if you advertise friendly then be friendly. If you are PVE then be PVE.I dont have nothing against PVP players. You bought the game and enjoy it the way you want to but I also payed for mine so I going enjoy it the way I like it.You arent going to force or pressure me..why try. If you want your your guild to be just numbers well you will have alot of turnover. Put rules out and stick with them.I was in a guild and all you seem to hear was gimme gimme..that is wrong answer. What would help a guild Officers helping in missions. Setting up events. People needing help setting up a time to make it more convient to get help. No begging. Teach people to farm..dont have to be a 55 to get good items. No swearing spamming items to sell or offensive humor.NO POLITICS OR RELIGION.Plenty of other things to talk about..like NF..) |

Update:
Well, as a prelude to a recruiting drive, I asked members of my guild to at least log-in to make it appear like there wasn't as much inactivity. Only five people bothered. So I gave up. I bought WoW and started a character. It's a lot of fun too, the change is nice. GW a great run, I played 14 months and had a lot of fun with my four level 20's. I plan on being back someday, I'll definitely get the new expansion and poke around. |

well if you havent found somethin that works, what i do is just go up to the newcomers. when i do that i normally get up to 10 ppl an hour. i travel to the shing jea monestary then look around, find my target then ask them whats up. they will reply. then ask them somehing like wanna join a guild, it's full of helpful and funny members. then they give you a responce and if they say no then they say no, if they say yes, recruit em.
warning: about 1/8 of recruits later on quit on me, but still you have those 7 |

Well, I've made a Guild with some real-life friends, we tried recruiting but it doesn't go so well.
We try to get to know others, but, the decent people are already in guilds. Also, the people looking for guilds expect it all to be given on a plate. Top 500 Ranked, 50+ Active Members, GvG & PvP everyday. Sheesh. |

i have a funny story that still makes me laugh to this day about recruiting for my guild.
i was recruiting in ascalon and someone started to pm me. i told them all of the info (hall, cape, over 50 people, 100,000 faction, blah, blah, blah) and then he asked to see our cape. so i showed the guy the cape and he declined being in my guild just because of the fact the cape was "ugly". i mean...it's a cape...you can change it and hide it! that seemed just a little too picky to me... |

Recruiting seems almost impossible for small guilds like myself, I have a Guild Hall, but its basically empty however I've saved 32K for upgrades, I don't have a faction though i do have 4,645/10,000 Kurzick.
I belive one should join a guild to have fun and make friends, but i've come to see that when i'm recruiting all people ask me is: "can i be an Officer?" Thats all i get, i also think that you shouldn't promote someone just for joining, i tell them that and its always:"Nevermind then" People are selfish all they seem to care about are themselves. However i don't give up but its still the same thing over and over again, "Promote me to officer i have alot of gold" If you don't take the time to get to know any of your fellow guildies then whats the point of being in a guild? |

There lies the problem. (That and the immaturity of some people I've played with... not all, thankfully, I found wonderful people out there ) The guild I'm in had a rule I didn't understand before, but eventually came up to understand. We don't pick up random people anymore, those spamming for a guild in outposts (funny thing is that I got picked up this way, and today I'm officer). We team up in missions, FoW, TA, RA, HA... and it works. Because we know we don't want immature members who're gonna ask for whatever green they want every 3 minutes, thinking someone went to farm it for them. This way, we have mature yet fun people, generally people who LISTEN even if they're brand new to the game. |

at the moment i like the guild i am in. i just don't like the fact that whenever someone promises to recruit or is recruiting like 1 person they ask to be an officer and our leader lets them. it annoys me a lot. i completely understand where some of you are coming from with the officer thing, but if you have friends and they want to join your guild, and you trust them, i would in an instant make them an officer.
another fact to consider when recruiting is if you want your guild to be a "certain" way, like a good gvg competing guild, is what type of people you're recruiting. it is very hard to find experienced guildless people, so you are mainly only going to be able to recruit the pre-searing people. |

Well of course i'd make my friends officers because i know them, i'm talking about total strangers that you invite to your guild. and the first thing that they ask when their invited is "can I be an officer"
Currently i have 2 officers, I promoted them not because they were my first 2 members but because they took the time to chat with me a little, and we've done some questing as well. all I'm asking from my members is just take a little time to get to know everyone. Why is that such a hassle with some people anyway? As of recruiting, I usually guild spam, and thats when i get the people that want to be officers right away. But with my first member, he was brand new to the game so i helped him get to know the game and do his first quests. so yeah doing missions with people and getting to know them better is a better approach when recruiting people into your guild, at least for some people. But then again i can never find enough newbies to help or people that don't have guilds in the first place, most of them have played prophecies or factions and already have a guild and thats not even the problem i never know how to ask...haha its stupid i know. cause the first thing out of that persons mouth could be "can I be an officer" so I'm a little hesitant. |

I am the leader of a small guild, 9 members, all officers. Wearing no tags gets you pmed over and over by people wanting you to join their guilds. My guild was made just to stop that. For this reason, I don't go asking people to join. If someone without tags is in my group, I may ask why they are not a member of a guild. Depending on how they answer, I tell them about my guild. That we are small, we are helpful (helping in missions and quests and such), we don't expect you to do anything you may not want to do, etc. I leave them saying, 'should want to join us, let me know.'
We aren't growing fast, but we have not had anyone quit nor have we had to kick anyone. The reason all are officers, no one has to wait for an officer for an invite. |
